  • Coach, athlete, and athletic administrator at Randolph-Macon College.
  • Excelled in football and baseball for four years.
  • All-Conference and All-American quarterback in football as well as co-captain.
  • All-Conference shortstop in baseball.
  • Dean’s List student & member of Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership and scholarship honor society.
  • Member of Phi Gamma Mu International Honor Society in Social Sciences.
  • Member of Kappa Alpha fraternity.
  • Earned B.A. degree in History from R-MC in 1953.
  • From 1954 to 1956, served in U.S. Marine Corps and played football for the Quantico base team as quarterback. 
  • Returned to Randolph-Macon in 1958 as assistant football coach.
  • Became head football coach in 1964.
  • Record of 105-56-5 in 18 seasons.
  • Under Keller, R-MC won four Mason-Dixon Athletic Conference championships & three Old Dominion Athletic Conference titles.
  • Virginia Small College Coach of the Year four times & ODAC Coach of the Year three times.
  • Led Yellow Jackets to victory in 1969 Knute Rockne Bowl, 47-28 on the road against the University of Bridgeport (Conn.), for NCAA East Regional Championship. That 1969 Yellow Jacket team was inducted into Randolph-Macon’s Athletics Hall of Fame.
  • The undefeated 1968 R-MC football team was also voted into the R-MC Athletics Hall of Fame.
  • R-MC head golf coach from 1964 through 2002.
  • Athletic Director from 1982 to 1996.
  • President of Virginia Sports Hall of Fame in 1992 & 1994, chairman of that board from 1994-96.
  • Served as Director of Yellow Jacket Club.
  • Worked with R-MC golf team until his death in 2009.
  • Served on Executive Committee of R-MC’s Boydton Society.
  • R-MC’s Society of Alumni presented him with Distinguished Service Award in 1979.
  • Received Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1996.
  • Legacy family, two children and one grandchild have attended R-MC.
  • Inducted into five different Halls of Fame: R-MC Athletics Hall of Fame, Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, Handley High School Hall of Fame, Winchester Fastpitch Softball Hall of Fame, Richmond Slowpitch Softball Hall of Fame.
  • Two athletic endowments, funded by players, friends, and family, bear his name: the Ted Keller ’53 Endowed Fund for Men’s Golf and the Ted Keller ’53 Endowed Fund for Football.
  • R-MC men’s golf program hosts a regional invitational each fall named in his honor – The Ted Keller Memorial Invitational.
