  • Class of 1980 and one of the most impactful defensive players in Randolph-Macon football history.
  • Four-year letter winner and starter at nose guard.
  • Served as a two-year team captain.
  • Earned First Team All-ODAC honors in 1977.
  • Named Second Team All-ODAC in 1978 and 1979.
  • Selected as the Richmond Touchdown Club Defensive Player of the Year in 1978.
  • Recorded 27 tackles against nationally ranked James Madison during his freshman season.
  • Registered 23 tackles against Washington and Lee in 1979.
  • Led the ODAC with 11.8 tackles per game in 1979.
  • Helped Randolph-Macon post a 19-17 overall record and a 13-1-1 ODAC record during his four-year career.
  • Helped lead the Yellow Jackets to back-to-back ODAC championships in 1978 and 1979.
  • Following graduation, served as a lieutenant colonel in the United States Marine Corps.
  • Served as a presidential helicopter pilot and later as a senior leader in the Osprey program.
  • Died in the line of duty on Dec. 11, 2000.
  • The Class of 1980 established the Lieutenant Colonel Keith Sweaney Scholarship in his memory.
