RMC Athletics is committed to supporting student-athletes and their pursuit of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) activities in accordance with applicable NCAA and/or state or federal laws while continuing to further the College’s mission – to develop the mind and character of our student-athletes.
Each year our student-athletes are educated on the NCAA regulations surrounding NIL activities, as well as the College’s policy regarding these activities.
Our students have the opportunity to work with individual brands or businesses, promote themselves on an open marketplace, and/or work with a collective. While the College does not control any of these entities, our role is to help educate our student-athletes and supporters about legitimate NIL endeavors. We strive to remove any barriers to allow all of our student-athletes to engage in NIL activities, should they choose to do so. Individual results are not driven by the College, but by the individual student-athlete.
The College views NIL as another cross-curricular opportunity for our student-athletes to explore their passions and grow their professional network. Student-athletes who participate in NIL opportunities can gain knowledge in entrepreneurship, personal finance, networking, public speaking, social media curation, and many other skills transferable to their post graduate pursuits. While NIL may be rooted in financial gain, we believe supporting our student-athletes’ NIL pursuits also continues to develop their mind and character.
