  • Billy Walker was a four-year letter winner and starter at first base on the baseball team, and was also a guard on the basketball team for three years, including two as a starter.
  • In baseball, Walker had a batting average of over .300 every year, including .409 as a senior and .384 as a junior. He was named all-state three times, was captain of the all-state team twice, and was Randolph-Macon's team captain in his senior season. Walker helped his team to Mason Dixon Conference and state championships in both 1951 and 1952.
  • Walker went on to become a teacher and coach. He coached basketball for 27 years at both Washington and Lee High School in Montross, Virginia and Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Virginia, and also was the baseball coach at Washington and Lee for 17 seasons.
  • As a basketball coach, Walker's teams had a record of 410-150, and won 12 district regular season championships, 10 district tournament championships, and four regional championships. His squads were consistently ranked #1 in the state, and in 1982 he received an award for his district by the national coaches association. In baseball, he guided his teams to seven district championships and two undefeated seasons, and he won numerous district Coach of the Year awards. He is a member of Virginia's Northern Neck Sports "Wall of Fame."
  • Walker's wife is Barbara, whose father is a 1930 graduate of Randolph-Macon. They have four sons: Bill, Tyler, Bob, and Jack. Jack is a 1985 Randolph-Macon graduate.
