  • At the time of induction Woods was ranked 22nd on Randolph-Macon's all-time scoring list, with 1,222 points in three years, and was eighth on the career scoring average list, with 15.7 points per game. As a junior, he led his 1976-77 team to a 23-8 record, which included the Great Lakes Regional championship and a runner-up finish in the NCAA Division II tournament.
  • The year after his graduation from Randolph-Macon, Wood went on to take classes and play basketball at St. Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He led his team to a 36-7 record and the Canadian championship, and was named Most Valuable Player of his conference and first-team all-Canadian. Wood then had a tryout with the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association, and made the final cut. Recently, for 10 years he coached Court Authority, a men's AAU team which traveled mostly up and down the East Coast and played Division I college teams.
  • At the time Wood and his wife, Sharon, have a two-year-old son named Riley, and another baby on the way. He is a financial advisor in Richmond.
