Snee Nets Three Goals, Snags Seven Draw Controls as R-MC Downs GC

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senior Susie Snee (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) scored three goals and snared seven draw controls as the Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team defeated Guilford 17-6 in ODAC action Saturday afternoon.

Junior Alicia Hsieh (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) led all players with six goals, while junior Alex Lightfoot (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson) dished out three assists for the Yellow Jackets (6-4, 3-0 ODAC).

R-MC scored the first four goals and eight of the first nine in the first 16 minutes of the contest. Sophomore Saunders Riley (Summerfield, N.C./Northern Guilford) assisted on the first two goals of the contest, one by senior Jessie Cornbrooks (Virginia Beach, Va./Bishop Sullivan) and the other by Hsieh. Snee netted a goal on a pass from Lightfoot and sophomore Hannah Jones (Chestertown, Md./Kent County) scored on a free position shot to give the visitors a 4-0 lead seven minutes into the contest. Following a goal by the Quakers (4-6, 1-1 ODAC), Hsieh scored twice, Lightfoot and Snee once as R-MC built an 8-1 lead with 14:25 left in the first half. Riley had a goal sandwiched around a pair of GC goals before sophomore Lexi Jones (Chestertown, Md./Kent County), Snee and Hsieh all scored to make it 12-3 with 6:19 remaining. Lexi Jones answered a Quaker goal with one of her own on an assist by senior Kelly Barney (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan) as the Yellow Jackets led 13-4 at intermission. R-MC had a 14-5 advantage in draw controls in the first half as well as a 20-10 edge in shots.

Lightfoot assisted on a pair of Hsieh goals to start the second half. Junior Sarah Alvanos (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) and Riley finished the scoring as R-MC held a 17-4 lead with 10:20 left in the second half. GC tallied the final two scores to make it 17-6.

Snee, senior Laney Dee (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan) and freshman Mary Castle (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) each had three ground balls, while Dee added four draw controls. Sophomore Abby Roth (Bayville, N.J./Donovan Catholic) paced the victors with three caused turnovers, while Hannah Jones added two.

Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, April 8 at 4 p.m. against Randolph.
