ASHLAND, Va. – Randolph-Macon College Athletics is pleased to welcome back and announce the appointment of Emerson Foster as the new Head Coach of the Women's Lacrosse program.
Foster returns to Randolph-Macon with a strong commitment to student-athlete development, competitive excellence, and program leadership.
She joins the Yellow Jackets after serving as head coach at fellow Old Dominion Athletic Conference member Virginia Wesleyan University during the 2025 season. Under her leadership, the Marlins posted a 9-8 overall record, a 4-4 mark in ODAC play and earned a berth in the ODAC Quarterfinals. The winning season was the program's first since 2015.
Prior to her stint at Virginia Wesleyan, Foster spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Randolph-Macon from 2024-25. During her tenure, she helped guide the Yellow Jackets to back-to-back 14-win seasons, tying the program record for victories in a single season. Foster worked primarily with the defense and midfield units, mentoring multiple All-ODAC, All-State, and All-Region student-athletes while helping the team reach consecutive ODAC semifinal appearances.
Her coaching philosophy emphasizes accountability, leadership, and personal growth, while fostering a competitive environment that enables student-athletes to excel both on the field and in the classroom.
"Few candidates could step into this role with the level of familiarity and passion that Emerson brings," said Director of Athletics
Jeff Burns. "She understands who we are as an institution, embraces our mission, and has already earned the trust and respect of our student-athletes. Her previous service to the program, combined with her vision for the future, makes her an outstanding choice to lead our women's lacrosse team."
In addition to her experience at Randolph-Macon and Virginia Wesleyan, Foster served as an assistant coach at Susquehanna University, where she worked closely with the midfield and defensive units. She is also well-acquainted with the ODAC, having enjoyed a standout four-year playing career at Roanoke College. A four-year starter and two-year team captain for the Maroons, Foster developed the leadership qualities and competitive mindset that continue to shape her coaching career.
"I am honored to be named the next head coach of Randolph-Macon Women's Lacrosse," said Foster. "I want to thank the athletic department's leadership for this incredible opportunity, and
MK Geratowski for the outstanding foundation she has built within the program. Returning to the Yellow Jackets community is truly special, and this program has meant so much to me. I look forward to getting started, building on its success, and helping it continue to grow and compete at a high level."
Randolph-Macon Athletics looks forward to the leadership, vision, and enthusiasm Foster will bring to the women's lacrosse program as it continues its pursuit of excellence both competitively and academically.
