Hsieh Scores Six as R-MC Women's Lacrosse Wins 17-0 at VWC

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Junior Alicia Hsieh (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) led the team with six goals as the Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team thumped Virginia Wesleyan 17-0 in ODAC action Wednesday evening.

The Yellow Jackets (5-4, 2-0 ODAC) tallied eight goals in the first half. Senior Susie Snee (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) broke the scoreless tie 3:23 into the contest on an assist by junior Alex Lightfoot (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson). Lightfoot assisted junior Alicia Hsieh (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) on the second goal with 20:51 left in the period. Sophomore Saunders Riley (Summerfield, N.C./Northern Guilford) scored on a free position shot midway through the first period to make it 3-0. Riley assisted freshman Mary Castle (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) with 12:23 left to make it 4-0. Snee scored again on an assist by junior Lucy Andrews (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) with 10:43 remaining to raise the advantage to 5-0. Hsieh recorded her second goal with 8:22 left to make it 6-0. Lightfoot scored twice in the final five minutes as R-MC led 8-0 at halftime.

Hsieh scored four times in a nine-goal second half. Riley and Castle both added second goals, while senior Laney Dee (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan), junior Sarah Alvanos (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) and freshman Julia Bain (Nokesville, Va./Patriot) each had one goal for the Yellow Jackets. Snee and senior Deb Schorno (Chessier, Switzerland/College St-Michel) both had assists in the second half.

R-MC held a 15-4 advantage in draw controls. Snee led the Yellow Jackets with nine draw controls, while sophomore Hannah Jones (Chestertown, Md./Kent County) recorded two. The Yellow Jackets had 21 ground balls. Senior Kristin Patrick (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) had four ground balls, while sophomore Olivia Mott (Dayton, Md./River Hill) registered three.

The Yellow Jackets caused 22 turnovers. Patrick had four, while Mott and sophomore Abby Roth (Bayville, N.J./Donovan Catholic) both forced three.

Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, April 1 for a 4 p.m. ODAC contest at Guilford.
