ASHLAND, Va. - Senior Jessie Cornbrooks (Virginia Beach, Va./Bishop Sullivan) scored her first three goals of the season as the Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team fell 16-6 to No. 16 Mary Washington Tuesday afternoon at Day Field.

Cornbrooks played in just her second game of the season for the Yellow Jackets (3-4).

After the Eagles (6-3) scored twice in the first two minutes of the game, the Yellow Jackets answered with a pair. Junior Alicia Hsieh (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) scored on an assist by junior Alex Lightfoot (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson) to make it 2-1 with 27:14 left. Freshman Mary Castle (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) netted a goal on a pass from sophomore Hannah Jones (Chestertown, Md./Kent County) to level the score at 2-2. Following an Eagles timeout, UMW tallied four straight goals to take a 6-2 advantage. Cornbrooks snapped the streak with 9:05 left to make it 6-3. The Eagles scored the next three goals before Cornbrooks scored twice more in the final two minutes, the second assisted by Lightfoot, as R-MC trailed 9-5 at intermission.

UMW would record the first six goals of the second half before Jones scored with 9:34 remaining in the contest. The Eagles added a goal with 7:50 left to make the final 16-6.

Lightfoot had a pair of assists for R-MC. Hsieh led the Yellow Jackets with four shots, while Cornbrooks added three. Hsieh, Jones and senior Laney Dee (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan) each had three draw controls. Junior Sarah Alvanos (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) and sophomore Olivia Mott (Dayton, Md./River Hill) each had three ground balls for R-MC. Castle had two caused turnovers for the Yellow Jackets.

Senior Allie Walker (Towson, Md./Mercy) had four saves, while senior Jamie Langbein (Brookville, Md./Sherwood) added two saves.

Randolph-Macon begins ODAC play at home on Thursday, March 23 at 7 p.m. against Bridgewater on Day Field.
