Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – The R-MC women's lacrosse team secured second place in the ODAC with a 17-12 victory over Roanoke on Saturday afternoon. Junior Alex Lightfoot (Fairfax, Va./ W.T. Woodson) had six points, scoring three goals and assisting three.
The Maroons took an early 2-0 lead just three minutes into the contest. R-MC stormed back, scoring six of the next seven goals in the game to take a 6-3 lead. The Maroons tied up the game at 7-7, before junior Alicia Hsieh (Ellicott City, Md./ Centennial) scored the final two goals of the first half, she would score three goals in the contest.
The Yellow Jackets dominated the draw controls taking a 19-12 advantage. Senior Susie Snee (Bel Air, Md./ John Carroll) grabbed seven in the game, bringing her total to 65 for the season, which is third best in the ODAC.
Snee would open the scoring for R-MC just 10 seconds into the second half, R-MC then scored its second goal inside a minute as senior Jessie Cornbrooks (Virginia Beach, Va./ Bishop Sullivan) scored off a pass from Lightfoot.
Senior goalkeeper Allie Walker (Towson, Md./ Mercy) had an outstanding day, finishing with nine saves. Defensively, Snee and sophomore Olivia Mott (Dayton, Md./ River Hill) led the team with two caused turnovers each.
Cornbrooks finished with four goals in the contest, her highest mark this season. Snee and sophomore Hannah Jones (Chestertown, Md./ Kent County) both finished with two goals and assist.
Lightfoot currently leads the ODAC in points this season with 63, Hsieh is second with 62.
R-MC (9-5, 6-1 ODAC) will conclude the regular season with a home game against Lynchburg on Saturday, April 29 at 1 p.m.
