ASHLAND, Va. – Senior Angelina Sportelli (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) did not lose a game as the Randolph-Macon women's tennis team posted a 9-0 ODAC home victory over Lynchburg Thursday afternoon at the Banks Tennis Center to finish the regular season.
Sportelli teamed with sophomore Kelsie Grice (Hoover, Ala./Charlotte Country Day) to register an 8-0 victory at No. 1 Doubles. Sportelli rolled at No. 1 Singles 6-0, 6-0, while Grice recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 Singles.
Sophomores Melissa Tomlin (Prince George, Va./Prince George) and Molly Jesseman (Williamsburg, Va./Warhill) registered an 8-1 win at No. 2 Doubles for the Yellow Jackets (13-3, 9-2 ODAC). Tomlin won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 Singles, while Jesseman took No. 4 Singles 6-0, 6-0.
Freshman Sarah Hinson (Nashville, N.C./Northern Nash) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 Singles. The Wasps (2-10, 1-10 ODAC) brought only five players and were forced to default at No. 3 Doubles and No. 6 Singles.
Randolph-Macon will be the No. 3 seed in the 2015 ODAC Women's Tennis Tournament. The Yellow Jackets are scheduled to host the No. 6 seed on Saturday, April 25. Opponent and start time will be announced soon.
