As a junior (2016): Tomlin posted a 13-2 singles record and a 9-1 record in the ODAC... She played the majority of the year in the number three spot and posted a victory over #18 Elizabethstown's Lauren Berry 6-4, 6-2... Tomlin played in the number three doubles role with Molly Jesseman and posted a 15-2 record, with only one loss in the ODAC.
As a sophomore (2015): Tomlin went undefeated, posting a 12-0 record, in her second season with the Yellow Jackets...In doubles, she recorded a 10-2 record with partner Molly Jesseman...She was awarded All-ODAC Second Team honors at #3 singles...Melissa was named Second Team All-State.
As a freshman (2014): Second on the team with a 13-3 overall singles record...led the ODAC and R-MC with a 10-0 ODAC singles record...led the ODAC with a 7-0 record in conference matches at #5 singles...ended the season by winning ten consecutive matches...posted a 13-5 doubles record, 9-2 in the ODAC.
Personal: Tomlin Played for five years at Prince George High School, where she was #1 for three consecutive seasons. She won the Central District singles title in 2011, 2012, and 2013; a Central District female-history accomplishment. Tomlin also won a Central District doubles title in 2012. In 2012 and 2013 she was voted Player of the Year and received the Sportsmanship Award at the Virginia Tech USTA Tournament in January 2013.
Tomlin also ran cross-country and indoor track for Prince George High School and was All-District Team and All-Academic Team for 2011, 2012, and 2013. She also has spent her free time giving tennis lessons for the Prince George Recreation Department.
