BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Randolph-Macon women's tennis team won two doubles points and five of six singles points in posting a 7-2 victory at Bridgewater Monday afternoon to move into a first-place tie with Washington and Lee in the ODAC standings.
Sophomores Melissa Tomlin (Prince George, Va./Prince George) and Molly Jesseman (Williamsburg, Va./Warhill) posted an 8-6 win at No. 2 Doubles. Tomlin took No. 3 Singles 6-2, 6-3, while Jesseman pulled out a 7-5, 6-3 victory at No. 4 Singles.
Freshmen Sarah Hinson (Nashville, N.C./Northern Nash) and Hannah Trueblood (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) registered an 8-1 win at No. 3 Doubles. Hinson had a three-set win at No. 5 Singles (6-3, 4-6, 6-4), while Trueblood rolled at No. 6 Singles 6-1, 6-2.
Sophomore Kelsie Grice (Hoover, Ala./Charlotte Country Day) recorded a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2 Singles.
The Yellow Jackets (11-1 overall, 7-0 ODAC) were scheduled to play at Virginia State on Tuesday, April 14, but that match has been canceled. R-MC hosts Lynchburg on Thursday, April 16 for a 2 p.m. ODAC match.
