ASHLAND, Va. - Senior Angelina Sportelli (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) recorded dominating wins in singles and in doubles on Senior Day as the Randolph-Macon women's tennis team defeated Randolph 7-2 Sunday afternoon in ODAC action at the Banks Tennis Center.
Sportelli teamed with sophomore Kelsie Grice (Hoover, Ala./Charlotte Country Day) to register an 8-0 victory at No. 1 Doubles. Sportelli won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 Singles, while Grice won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 Singles.
Freshmen Sarah Hinson (Nashville, N.C./Northern Nash) and Hannah Trueblood (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) both recorded wins in singles and doubles. The duo posted an 8-1 victory at No. 3 Doubles. Hinson won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 Singles, while Trueblood needed a tie-breaker to rally for a win at No. 6 Singles.
Sophomore Melissa Tomlin (Prince George, Va./Prince George) also recorded a tie-break win at No. 3 Singles.
The Yellow Jackets (10-1, 6-0 ODAC) return to action on Tuesday, April 14 for a 3 p.m. match at Division II Virginia State.
