Box Score BRIDGEWATER, VA -- The
Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team used a nine-goal second
half to pull away from Bridgewater and win 16-7 in ODAC action
Saturday.
R-MC (3-0
/ 1-0 ODAC) was led by Erin Clare Cassidy and Kelly Cramer who each
tallied four goals in the win, while Logan Pomeroy, Kelly Egan and
Elyse Cooper all scored twice for the Jackets.
Randolph-Macon outshot
Bridgewater (4-4 / 0-3 ODAC ) 35-17 and beat the Eagles 21-8
in the battle for groundballs. Alex Flammia turned away eight
shots in the cage for the Jackets.
After the
teams exchanged goals to start the contest, R-MC reeled off four
straight strikes, taking a 5-1 advantage when Pomeroy scored with
10:04 to go in the half.
Leslie Crawford pulled the Eagles within
three with a score 54 seconds later, but R-MC responded with
goals from Emily Kent and Cooper to push its advantage to
7-2.
BC closed the gap to 7-4 with two goals in
the final minute of the first stanza, but R-MC pulled away with
four goals to start the second half, jumping out to an 11-4 lead
when Cassidy scored with 24 minutes to go in the
game.
Leading
13-7, the Jackets got goals from Cassidy and a pair by Cramer in
the final 7:22 to secure the victory.
Randolph-Macon will be
back in action on Sunday when it hosts Washington College at 4:30
p.m. in Ashland.
