SALEM, Va. - The third-seeded Randolph-Macon softball team fought tough to open up pod play in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Softball Championships, but fell short to sixth-seeded Bridgewater.

How it Happened
- Randolph-Macon took the early lead with a solo homer by Mya Davis (Chesapeake, Va./Grassfield) in the second inning, giving the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 lead.
- In the top of the third inning, Aniella Baldwin drew a walk and Caroline Malandra gave Bridgewater the lead with one swing of the bat with a home run.
- The Eagles saw Olivia Eastlake lead off the fourth inning with a single and Lexi Schaaf also singled to create pressure for the Lemon and Black. Molly Ecroyd pinch ran for Schaaf and stole second, putting two runners into scoring position for BC. Jordan Wise knocked in Eastlake on a sacrifice flyout, followed by a Lily Moyers single to score Ecroyd and push the Eagles to a 4-1 lead.
- In the bottom of the fourth inning, Katerina Brabson (Chesapeake Beach, Md./Northern) singled with one out and Jacy Ramos (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) pinch ran. Davis drew a walk to put two runners on base with one out. Reagan Hill (Hanover, Va./Hanover) had a clutch double into left center to score Ramos and Davis. The two runs brought the Lemon and Black within one run, still trailing 4-3.
- The Eagles had Schaaf walk and score on a Moyers double to begin the sixth inning. Moyers ended up scoring later in the inning on a McKenna Dayton double to push BC to a 6-3 lead.
- Randolph-Macon could not create many scoring chances in the final two innings and would fall in the opening game of pod play 6-3.
Inside the Numbers
- Sierra Kegley (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) started the game and went four innings, giving up four runs on four hits. Kailey Jackson (Virginia Beach, Va./Colonial) finished the final three innings, giving up two runs on three hits. The duo combined for three total strikeouts.
- Hill led the offense with a double and two RBIs.
- Davis hit a solo homer in the game for the Yellow Jackets.
- Ripley Barry (Buchanan, Va./James River), Charlotte Boswell (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) and Brabson all ended the game a hit.
