  • Two minutes into the start of the game, Reese Toth (Edgewater, Md./South River) connected with Grayson Cornelius (Glenwood, Md./Glenelg High School) to get the scoring started in the contest. Three minutes later, Sydney Dumas answered the Yellow Jacket goal and leveled the score at 1-1 for the Hornets. Less than a minute later, Lynchburg added a second goal to grab the lead. At the 3:59 mark, Cami McNeally (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) found a cutting Campbell Conway (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) for the Yellow Jackets' second goal to equalize the game at 2-2. 37 seconds later, Hailey Pierce (Mechanicsville, Va./ Mechanicsville) cashed in on a free-position goal to grab a one-goal lead. At the 2:28 mark, Dumas added her second goal of the contest, knotting the game up once again. With 49 seconds left in the first quarter of play, Toth found Lilly Fowler (Phoenix, Md./Notre Dame Prep) on a curl around a screen to take the lead once more.
  • In the first minute of the second quarter, Fowler was fouled and capitalized on the free-position shot, extending the Lemon and Black's lead to two goals. At the 7:34 mark, the Hornets cut the deficit to one on a goal from McKenna Steinau. Both defenses anchored down for the rest of the quarter and the Yellow Jackets took a 5-4 lead into the second half.
  • At the 12:59 mark of the third quarter, Fowler connected with Brooklynn Ricker (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) to extend the lead back to two goals. 54 seconds later, Fowler tallied an unassisted goal to lift the Yellow Jackets into the lead 7-4. At the 10:37 mark, Lynchburg found the back of the net to cut the lead back to two. One minute later, Pierce scooped up a ground ball and marched down the field, netting the eighth Yellow Jackets goal of the game. With 4:47 left in the third quarter, Dumas capitalized on a free-position opportunity of her own, keeping the Hornets within two goals. In the final two minutes of the third frame, Emma Moxham (Street, Md./Garrison Forest School) kept the game out of reach for Lynchburg, answering the Hornets' free-position goal with one of her own to extend the lead to 9-6.
  • Kicking off the final frame of the game, Lynchburg earned a free-position shot with 13:03 on the clock. Senior keeper Gillian Gladden (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) made a massive save on Steinau to keep the momentum in favor of RMC. With 7:53 on the clock, the Hornets capitalized on the power-play opportunity to push the score to 10-8. At the 5:13 mark, the Hornets were called for a non-releasable yellow card, giving the Yellow Jackets a power-play opportunity of their own. With 4:30 on the clock, Fowler found the back of the net on the power play, assisted by Toth.
