SALISBURY, Md. – The 24th – ranked Randolph-Macon softball team bounced back in the second game of the day in the Margie Knight Softball Classic, finishing the day 1-1.

How it Happened
Game 1 (Muhlenberg):
- In the first inning, Reagan Hill (Hanover, Va./Hanover) doubled with two outs and advanced to third on a wild pitch. The senior would not be able to be brought home and give Randolph-Macon the early lead.
- The Yellow Jackets had a chance to take the lead in the fifth inning, as Ashley Bush (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) doubled and was moved over to third on a sacrifice bunt. Muhlenberg got out of the top of the inning without giving up the lead and the score stayed tied at 0-0.
- In the sixth inning, the Mules received three straight hits, including two doubles to take the lead late by a score of 2-0.
- Randolph-Macon went down in order in the top of the seventh inning and dropped the opening game of the weekend, 2-0.
By the Numbers
- Kailey Jackson (Virginia Beach, Va./Colonial) started the game and received the loss in six innings pitched. The sophomore gave up two runs on five hits and struck out two.
- Tori Powell (Freeman, Va./Mecklenburg County), Bush and Hill all recorded a hit in the game.
How it Happened
Game 2 (Salisbury):
- In the second inning, Randolph-Macon would score its first run of the day and take a lead in the game 1-0. Bush led off the inning with a single and later scored on a Sierra Kegley (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) groundout.
- Powell led off the third inning, reaching first base by a fielding error by the Sea Gulls. The junior stole second and scored on a throwing error by Salisbury that allowed Mya Davis (Chesapeake, Va./Grassfield) to reach base to scoring position. Hill helped the Lemon and Black add more to their lead with a single up the middle to bring home Davis. The final run of the inning came by way of a Jordan Brown (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) single to score Hill. The three run inning would extend the Randolph-Macon lead to 4-0.
- In the fourth inning, Alyssa Meharg (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen), Davis and Hill all walked to load up the bases with one out. Charlotte Boswell (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) broke open the game with a two-RBI single to score Meharg and Davis. Jacy Ramos (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) drew another walk to load up the bases again in the inning. Brown kept her bat hot with another single, bringing home Hill and Boswell. The fifth and final run of the inning came on an error by the Sea Gulls and allowed Ramos to score. The five run inning would run the lead to 9-0 for the Yellow Jackets.
- Kegley sat down Salisbury in order in the fifth to take the 9-0 win via mercy rule to complete the day 1-1 overall for RMC.
By the Numbers
- Kegley recorded the five inning shutout, giving up only three hits and did not allow a walk. The freshman also added five strikeouts to her stat line.
- Brown ended the game going 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
- Boswell recorded two RBIs in the game for the Lemon and Black.
- Hill and Kegley both added an RBI each.
