How it Happened
- Brooklynn Ricker (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) opened up the scoring three minutes into the first quarter with an unassisted goal. At the 9:53 mark, McDaniel responded with a goal of the own to level the score at 1-1. 38 seconds later, Hailey Pierce (Mechanicsville, Va./Mechanicsville) connected with sophomore Reese Toth (Edgewater, Md./South River) to grab a one-goal lead once again. With 2:55 left in the first quarter, Cami McNeally (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) buried a shot for an unassisted goal and 46 seconds later, assisted a goal by Campbell Conway (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) to lift the Yellow Jackets ahead 4-1 heading into the second frame.
- The Lemon and Black offense maintained its pace from the first 15 minutes, netting the first two goals of the quarter. Ricker tallied her second, assisted by Lilly Fowler (Phoenix, Md./Notre Dame Prep) and Fowler cashed in on a free position shot to grab a 6-1 lead over the Green Terror. McDaniel's Grace Legacy responded with the second goal of the afternoon for the Green Terror, assisted by Addison Utterback. Julianna Blair cut the lead to 6-3 for McDaniel with 8:38 left to play in the half. With 1:35 left in the second frame, Pierce added her second point of the afternoon on a goal assisted by Elaina Creekmore (Pasadena, Md./Old Mill), putting the Yellow Jackets in the lead by four heading into the break.
- McDaniel came out of the break scoring their fourth goal 50 seconds into the third frame. Conway answered a minute later by capitalizing on a man-up opportunity, assisted by Toth, giving the Lemon and Black an 8-4 lead. Less than thirty seconds later, Emily Conklin cut the deficit back to three and tallied the final goal for the Green Terror. For the remainder of the third frame, defense for both sides tightened up and the Yellow Jackets took an 8-5 lead into the final quarter of the game.
- At the 11:55 mark, Fowler assisted her second goal of the game, finding Toth to lift RMC ahead 9-5. Seven minutes later, Conway completed the hat trick with a man-up free position goal, notching the 10th goal of the afternoon for RMC. With 41 seconds left in the game, Fowler added one final goal, assisted by Toth for the Yellow Jackets on man-up, grabbing an 11-5 victory.
