ASHLAND, Va. - Five Yellow Jackets recorded a goal as Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse played host to the Eagles of Mary Washington in a non-conference bout on Wednesday evening.

How it Happened
- It only took Emma Moxham (Street, Md./Garrison Forest School) 41 seconds to put the Yellow Jackets ahead on their second possession of the game. Hailey Pierce (Mechanicsville, Va./Mechanicsville) added a fastbreak goal 12 seconds later, taking control of the draw and beating the Eagles' defense on her own. Mary Washington responded at the 10:24 mark, as Ava Windham buried a free-position shot. Defense defined the rest of the first period, but Randolph-Macon was in control, 2-1.
- The first ten minutes of the second quarter saw both teams trade possessions. With 10:20 left in the second quarter, the Eagles evened the score with a goal from Abigail Fisher. At the 6:04 mark, Fisher gave Mary Washington the lead with another score. With 4:00 to play in the first half, Lilly Fowler (Phoenix, Md./Notre Dame Prep) found the back of the net in a man-up situation to level the game at 3-3. With 0:15 left to play in the first half, Cami McNeally (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) netted a goal, assisted by Fowler, to take back the lead, 4-3.
- The scoring poured in at the start of the second half, as Mary Washington found the back of the net three times within the first five minutes. Windham added another goal for the Eagles at the 7:30 mark to make the score 7-4. Fisher scored her fourth goal of the contest to give the Eagles a four-goal advantage with 5:57 left in the quarter. Both defenses would hold strong for the remainder of the third frame.
- The defensive prominence would continue in the final period as the only goal would come with 4:40 to play, as Caty Benton (Richmond, Va./Mills E. Godwin) put one away with the help of an assist from Brooklynn Ricker (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis). The Lemon and Black would continue to press in the final minutes but would fall to the Eagles of Mary Washington, 8-5.
