FOREST, Va. – Freshman defender
Kaylie Scherer (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) has been named ODAC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Scherer continued her amazing season with elite performances in back-to-back shutouts this past week for Randolph-Macon. The freshman posted an assist in a 4-0 shutout on the road against Eastern Mennonite University and two assists against Averett University in a 12-0 victory.
So far this season, she has logged a total of 725 minutes while being a mainstay on the Yellow Jackets backline. The defense held Eastern Mennonite to only five shots and maintained a clean sheet against Averett, not allowing a single shot.
The Yellow Jackets are off to a 4-3-2 record through the first nine games of the season, with all victories being shutouts. They will head on the road on Wednesday, October 1 for a 7:00 p.m. contest against Southern Virginia University.
