How it happened
- Randolph-Macon tested the Salisbury goalkeeper early with a shot from Ariel Farmer (Chesterfield, Va./Clover Hill) in the eighth minute. The Yellow Jackets kept the pressure on, and strong play in the midfield limited the Sea Gulls' opportunities.
- The breakthrough came when Ella Boyce (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) netted her first collegiate goal, finishing a combination play set up by Alexa Stohr (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) and Ally Spangler (Daleville, Va./Lord Botetourt). Randolph-Macon continued to create chances but carried a 1-0 lead into halftime.
- The Jackets maintained control after the break, generating shots from Emma Owens (Kernersville, N.C./East Forsyth) and Spangler. Salisbury pushed for an equalizer late, but the back line of Maddie Stubblefield (Mechanicsville, Va./Mechanicsville), Abigail Pesut (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam), Kaylie Scherer (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park), Thalia Outhuok (Falls Church, Va./Justice) and Erin Morris (Manchester, N.H./Bishop Guertin) stood firm.
- The Sea Gulls created a few chances in the final nine minutes, but Randolph-Macon closed out the 1-0 shutout.
