How it happened
- RMC opened the match with heavy offensive pressure, firing two early shots from Caroline Blanchard (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox) and Emma Owens (Kernersville, N.C./East Forsyth). The Yellow Jackets maintained control, and in the 10th minute, Ally Spangler (Daleville, Va./Lord Botetourt) connected with Madison Blanchard (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox), who buried the shot to give RMC a 1-0 lead.
- The Lemon and Black continued to dominate both ends of the field, holding Eastern Mennonite to just one shot on goal in the first half. Randolph-Macon created several chances through Alexa Stohr (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax), Jackie Wenzlik (Durham, N.C./Riverside), and Owens, but the score remained 1-0 at the break.
- The Yellow Jackets carried their momentum into the second half, dictating the pace with relentless offensive pressure. Owens extended the lead with goals in the 64th and 72nd minutes to make it 3-0.
- Defensively, the backline of Abigail Pesut (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam), Maddie Stubblefield (Mechanicsville, Va./Mechanicsville), Kaylie Scherer (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park), Erin Morris (Manchester, N.H./Bishop Guertin), and C. Blanchard allowed just one additional shot on goal the rest of the way. In the 85th minute, Wenzlik forced a save with a powerful strike, and Spangler capitalized on the rebound to seal a 4-0 victory for Randolph-Macon.
