How it Happened
  • In the beginning of the first half, neither team was able to gain much of an advantage to create attacking chances. The Eagles were able to break the ice in the 24th minute, as Maci Landel put the ball into the corner of the net and gave UMW a 1-0 lead.
  • Randolph-Macon was able to create a potential goal-scoring threat in the 33rd minute, as Hollis Keenan (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) beat her defender and put a shot towards the top corner of the goal. Emily Orn was able to make the save and keep the Eagles in front 1-0 at the halftime break.
  • In the first few minutes of the second half, RMC received more pressure from Keenan and Mary Washington needed to make another save to keep the advantage. In the 54th minute, the Eagles would double their lead with a Katie Britton strike finding the back of the net and Landel notched the assist.
  • The Yellow Jackets were not able to create much pressure on the offensive side of the field. Maeve Konstantoulas (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Spalding) did make two more saves in the final 30 minutes, totaling four saves on the night.
