ASHLAND, Va. - Head Coach Josh Merkel has announced the hire of Wyatt Hockenberry as the Nunnally Assistant Coach on the Randolph-Macon Men's Basketball staff.

Hockenberry comes to Randolph-Macon from Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, playing his high school basketball at Unionville. From there, he went on to play a season at Elizabethtown College before finishing his career with three seasons at Marymount University. While at Marymount, he was named a team captain twice, also earning First Team All-Conference honors in the Atlantic East. Hockenberry helped Marymount win two straight Atlantic East championships. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in business administration, he went on to serve as a Graduate Assistant at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

Beyond his playing career, Hockenberry has worked as a skills trainer in the greater Philadelphia area since 2021 with HyIQ. He has worked with athletes ranging from elementary school to professional.

"Wyatt is a winner who developed and improved throughout his college career, He has played and worked for some tremendous coaches in Chris Rogers at Marymount and Billy Lange and the St. Joseph's staff. He will make an immediate impact pushing our young men forward on and off the court with a relentless work ethic. He is a relationship builder with a passion for development and is ready to help attract future Yellow Jackets to RMC, " said Merkel.
