12 Different Yellow Jackets Score for Women's Lax Against VWU


ASHLAND, Va. - Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse saw 12 different Yellow Jackets net a goal in a mid-week matchup with Virginia Wesleyan, dominating the Marlins in a 17-4 win.

How It Happened
  • Randolph-Macon began the game quickly with a goal in the first 45 seconds of the game by Taylor Mittelstadter (Chesterfield, Va./Manchester). Five minutes later, the Yellow Jackets were rewarded a free position opportunity and Anna Snoddy (Palmyra, Va./Fluvanna County) buried the shot to double the lead to 2-0. The next two goals saw senior Rianna Lowery (Bel Air, Md./Notre Dame Prep) assist a goal scored by Lilly Fowler (Phoenix, Md./Notre Dame Prep) and soon after recorded her own goal of the game. Cami McNeally (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and Elaina Creekmore (Pasadena, Md./Old Mill) both netted goals in the final five minutes to send Randolph-Macon into the second quarter with a 6-0 lead. 
  • The second quarter would see Natalie Moul (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) and Hailey Pierce (Mechanicsville, Va./Mechanicsville) both record goals in the first six minutes, extending the lead to 8-0 for the Lemon and Black. Virginia Wesleyan would get on the board with a free position goal by Gabriella Watton and an unassisted goal by Shaunice Rone within thirty seconds of eachother. The final three minutes were dominated by the Yellow Jackets, scoring four goals to take a 12-2 lead into halftime. Evie McNeally (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) scored two goals, Snoddy netted get second goal of the game and Caty Benton (Richmond, Va./Mills E. Godwin) buried a free position shot during the scoring run. 
  • The Lemon and Black pushed the scoring run to 6-0 in the third quarter with goals by Pierce and Lina Donoway (Chester, Md./Kent Island) to mount an overall lead of 14-2 with 9:24 on the clock. The Marlins ended the run with a goal by Gianna Delevan with 7:38 to cut their deficit to 14-3. The running clock would conclude the third quarter rapidly, until Cami McNeally recorded her second goal of the evening with :15 seconds on the clock. 
  • In the fourth quarter, in the first minute Mittelstadter extended the Randolph-Macon lead to 16-3 and Kiley Kurcoba (White Marsh, Md./Perry Hall) capped off the evening with a goal with 10:21 left in the game. Virginia Wesleyan added one final goal by Adrianna Gunther to end the scoring and give the Lemon and Black a dominant 17-4 win.  
By The Numbers
  • Randolph-Macon outshot Virginia Wesleyan 39-8 in the entire game. The Yellow Jackets also went 24-for-26 in clear attempts. 
  • The Marlins won the draw control battle with 12 to the Yellow Jackets 10. The Lemon and Black also dominated ground balls 29-to-12.
  • Cami McNeally led the team in the points with three overall in the game, scoring twice and recording an assist. The sophomore also scooped up two ground balls.
  • Evie McNeally, Mittelstadter, Pierce and Snoddy all ended the evening with two goals each. Mittelstadter also caused two turnovers, had two ground balls and controlled a draw. Pierce led the team in draw controls with three and scooped up three ground balls.  
  • Moul was all over the field tonight, recording a goal and an assist. The freshman also had four caused turnovers and six ground balls. 
  • Reese Toth (Edgewater, Md./South River) controlled two draws, had two ground balls and caused a turnover.  
  • Laila Omar (Annandale, Va./Falls Church) caused two caused turnovers and two ground balls. 
  • Gillian Gladden (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key), Ellen Stark (McLean, Va./Oakcrest) and MJ Tucker (Raleigh, N.C./Athens Drive) saw time in goal for the Lemon and Black in 60 minutes.
