Cami McNeally's Overtime Winner Stuns Shenandoah on Senior Day

ASHLAND, Va. - Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse took down Shenandoah in nail biting fashion, as Cami McNeally (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) nets game-winning overtime goal on Senior Day.

The Basics

Score: Randolph-Macon 13, Shenandoah 12
Venue: Ashland, Virginia // Randolph-Macon College // Day Field
Records: Randolph-Macon (12-4, 7-2), Shenandoah (11-6, 7-2)

How it Happened
  • Shenandoah took an early 2-0 lead in the first three minutes. Evie McNeally (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) responded with a goal assisted by Lilly Fowler (Phoenix, Md./Notre Dame Prep). Shenandoah would score despite being a man down but Fowler would set Evie McNeally up for her second score of the game. Amanda Maxwell (Baltimore, Md./Loch Raven) knotted the game at 3-3 with a free position goal at the 8:12 mark. The Hornets would retake the lead with less than five minutes to play in the first frame. Fowler would score an equalizer on a man-up free position shot and Evie McNeally completed a first quarter hat trick with a goal at the 3:38 mark as the Yellow Jackets took a 5-4 lead.
  • Shenandoah scored two straight goals to start the second quarter and retake the lead. Rianna Lowery (Bel Air, Md./Notre Dame Prep) tied the game back up at 6-6 with a 12th-minute score but the Hornets answered quickly with a score of their own. At the 8:50 mark, Shenandoah would add to their lead to make it 8-6. With 4:25 to play in the first half, Taylor Mittelstadter (Chesterfield, Va./Manchester) threaded a pass through the Hornets' defense to set up Lowery for her second goal of the afternoon. Cami McNeally tallied her first goal of the game on a free position attempt to tie it at 8-8. Lowery set up a goal from Nataile Moul (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) to give the Jackets a one-point advantage heading into the locker room at halftime.
  • Shenandoah tallied the first goal of the second half to knot the game at 9-9. In the ninth-minute, Elaina Creekmore (Pasadena, Md./Old Mill) set up Moul for her second goal of the game. Lowery tallied her third goal of the game to extend the Yellow Jackets' lead with 3:01 left to play in the third quarter. The Yellow Jackets clung to a two point lead heading into the final frame.
  • Shenandoah drew within one goal, scoring the first goal of the fourth quarter at the 5:43 mark and the Hornets tied the game up with less than 2:00 on the clock. The Hornets took the lead on a free-position goal leaving Randolph-Macon with only 0:51 to answer. Randolph-Macon was in scramble mode, following a shot by Mittelstadter that was saved by the Hornets. Maxwell ran down the redirected ball and gave the ball to Fowler and she buried a dribbled shot past the goalkeeper with three seconds left, sending the game into overtime.
  • The first 3:00 overtime period went scoreless but with 0:26 left in the second portion of the 3:00 overtime period, Fowler dished the ball to Cami McNeally for her second goal of the afternoon to secure the 13-12 victory for the Yellow Jackets.
