ASHLAND, Va. - Three different Yellow Jackets scored in a tough defensive battle with rival Mary Washington and would fall to the Eagles 8-4 on Tuesday night.

How It Happened
- Mary Washington scored all three goals in the first period. Molly Daw scored two out of the three goals and Sadie Laughlin netted the other goal. The Yellow Jackets were unable to get much going on offense, only putting up two shots on goal that were stopped by the Eagles. Mary Washington took an early 3-0 advantage after the first 15 minutes.
- In the second period, Randolph-Macon got on the board early with a goal by Hailey Pierce (Mechanicsville, Va./Mechanicsville) at the 13:02 mark on a free position shot. The Eagles answered with two straight goals by Daw and Laughlin to push the lead to 5-1 for Mary Washington with 8:06 on the clock. The Lemon and Black had multiple chances to cut down the Eagles lead before halftime, but the Mary Washington defense was up to the test. Randolph-Macon would trail 5-1 going into the halftime break.
- The Eagles started the third period with two goals to push the lead to 7-1 with 4:19 left in the third. The Yellow Jackets did answer with two late period goals by Evie McNeally (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) and Cami McNeally (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding), still trailing 7-3 with 15 minutes left in the game.
- In the fourth period, each team was able to score a goal, as the Eagles saw Daw net their goal and Cami McNeally scored the Yellow Jackets goal. Randolph-Macon had chances in the offensive zone and sent multiple shots at the Mary Washington goalkeeper. The shots would be denied and the final score would be 8-4 with Mary Washington taking home the victory.

- Mary Washington outshot Randolph-Macon 25-20 in the entire game. The Yellow Jackets also went 19-for-21 on clear attempts.
- The Yellow Jackets won the draw control battle with 13 to the Eagles 2.
- Cami McNeally led the Lemon and Black with two goals for two points.
- Evie McNeally recorded a goal and three draw controls in the game.
- Pierce accounted for the final goal and also had a draw control to her credit.
- Lilly Fowler (Phoenix, Md./Notre Dame Prep) and Amanda Maxwell (Baltimore, Md./Loch Raven) each assisted a goal on the evening. Fowler also recorded a caused turnover and a ground ball and Maxwell had two draw controls.
- Laila Omar (Annandale, Va./Falls Church) caused three turnovers, scooped up five ground balls and recorded a draw control for the Lemon and Black.
- Gillian Gladden (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) had nine saves in goal for Randolph-Macon to go along with three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
