ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon women's tennis team topped Bridgewater 9-0 in ODAC action on Tuesday afternoon at the Banks Tennis Center.
The Yellow Jackets came away with three points from doubles play. Senior
Katie Sarnowski (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) and freshman
Meckenzie Letellier (Alexandria, Va./Bishop Ireton) came from behind to secure the final doubles point, winning four straight games to prevail 8-5. Freshmen
Elizabeth Key (Moseley, Va./Cosby) and
Emma Turner (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) got their third straight win in doubles 8-1 at #3 Doubles.
In singles play, the Yellow Jackets secured all six points. Sophomore
Camilla Thurman (Knoxville, Tenn./Knoxville Catholic) set the tone at the first position, winning in straight sets 6-2,6-4. Letellier closed out the match by winning at third singles 6-2,6-2.
Randolph-Macon moves to 8-3 overall and 4-2 in ODAC play. The Yellow Jackets are off this weekend and play another ODAC rival Roanoke College at home on Wednesday, April 17.
