ASHLAND, Va. -- The Randolph-Macon women's tennis team earned a hard fought ODAC quarterfinal victory against Shenandoah University, 5-1. RMC was able to sweep three close doubles matches to head into singles up 3-0. Camilla Thurman (Knoxville, Tenn./Knoxville Catholic) and Catherine Mowry (Lynchburg, Va./Liberty Christian Academy) won 8-6 at one doubles, avenging their loss earlier this season. Adele Huffman (Granite Falls, N.C./University Christian) and Katie Sarnowski (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) earned a close victory at third doubles in a tiebreaker 8-7(1). In singles play, Catherine Mowry added the fourth point for the Jackets 6-0,6-2. Senior Grace Holderman (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring), who got the fifth point in the regular season matchup, again clinched it for Randolph-Macon, winning 6-1,6-4. The match ended after the fifth point and Randolph-Macon finished the season undefeated at home. The Yellow Jackets advance to the ODAC semifinals against Washington and Lee in Lexington, Va. on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
