Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – Junior Annie Bartley (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) and sophomore Taylor Mittelstadter (Chesterfield, Va./Manchester) both scored four goals as the RMC women's lacrosse team fell one goal short to Lynchburg in ODAC action on Saturday evening.

How It Happened
- The Yellow Jackets had the first three goals of the game, as sophomore Rianna Lowery (Bel Air, Md./Notre Dame Prep), Mittelstadter and freshman Lilly Fowler (Phoenix, Md./Notre Dame Prep) each scored to give RMC a 3-0 edge with 8:45 remaining in the first period. The Hornets would net the next four goals before Lowery scored on an assist by sophomore Amanda Maxwell (Baltimore, Md./Loch Raven) as the home team tied it at 4-4 with three minutes left. LYN reclaimed the lead before Mittelstadter scored with 55 seconds remaining as the first quarter ended in a 5-5 deadlock.
- Bartley scored less than a minute into the second period as RMC went up 6-5. The Hornets tied it two minutes later before Mittelstadter notched her third goal and senior Italia Carnazza (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI) fed Bartley to put the Yellow Jackets up 8-6 with 5:48 left in the second quarter. LYN had three goals in the final two minutes to take a 9-8 lead at the half.
- The Hornets tallied the first three goals of the third period before Mittelstadter scored on an assist by Bartley and senior Logan Schweiger (Church Hill, Md./Queen Anne's County) assisted Fowler's goal as RMC pulled within two at 12-10 with 3:43 remaining. LYN had the final two scores of the quarter to lead 14-10.
- Fowler scored just over a minute into the fourth period to narrow the margin to 14-11. Bartley added a goal less than a minute later as the Yellow Jackets pulled within two at 14-12. Lowery pulled RMC within one with a goal with 9:38 remaining to make it 14-13. The Hornets netted a player advantage goal with 5:30 left to push the lead back to two at 15-13. LYN added a goal with 1:07 remaining to make it 16-13. Freshman Elaina Creekmore (Pasadena, Md./Old Mill) connected on a free position shot with 47 seconds left as the Yellow Jackets pulled within two at 16-14. Bartley added a free position goal 11 seconds later to make it 16-15. RMC missed a shot with five seconds left and fell one goal short.

- For the second straight game, there was limited flow to the game due to the high number of penalties called by the officials. During RMC's first 12 contests, there was an average of 3.6 combined penalties per game. Eleven of those contests had five penalties or less. Over the past two games, there was an average of 13 penalties per game after the 14 called in this game.
