ASHLAND, Va. -- Randolph-Macon women's tennis pulled out a 5-4 victory against ODAC rival Lynchburg College on Wednesday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets got two vital doubles points with Camilla Thurman (Knoxville, Tenn./Knoxville Catholic) and Catherine Mowry (Lynchburg, Va./Liberty Christian Academy) winning at the first flight, 8-4. Adele Huffman (Granite Falls, N.C./University Christian) and Katie Sarnowski (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) gave RMC a crucial second point by winning at the third doubles flight, 8-4. In singles play, RMC pulled out several close matches at third and fifth spots to close out the match. Catherine Mowry secured the fourth point for Randolph-Macon by winning her singles match 6-1 7-6(4). At the fifth singles spot, Katie Sarnowski gutted out a 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 win to clinch the match for RMC. The Yellow Jackets are now 8-2 heading into Saturday's contest against Shenandoah.
