How It Happened
- The Hornets scored twice in the first five minutes of the game before a goal by freshman Rianna Lowery (Bel Air, Md./Notre Dame Prep) with three minutes left and a goal by freshman Evie McNeally (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) one minute later had the contest tied 2-2 after one period.
- Lowery assisted sophomore Sarah Lynch (Fallston, Md./Friends School of Baltimore) on a goal 27 seconds into the second quarter as R-MC took a 3-2 edge. After SU leveled the score at 3-3, Lowery notched her second goal with 10:36 left to give the Yellow Jackets a 4-3 advantage. The Hornets had the next three scores before senior Lily Henderson (Manakin-Sabot, Va./St. Catherine's) scored a man-up goal on a free position shot with 1:15 remaining as R-MC trailed 6-5. SU had the final two goals of the period to lead 8-5 at intermission.
