How It Happened
- Gabby Cifuentes (Sr., Stafford, Va. / Paul VI) and Rachael Johnston (Sr., Roanoke, Va. / Hidden Valley) had the easiest time at the start of the day as they defeated the duo of Cassidy Bell and Sabrina Dickerson by an 8-1 decision at second doubles. Adele Huffman (So., Granite Falls, N.C. / University Christian) and Brianne Bock (Sr., Chesapeake, Va. / Western Branch) also made quick work of Zeinab Elkhansa and Jenna Fink at thirds with an 8-2 win.
- First doubles proved to be one of the most competitive matches of the day. The Jackets' top pair of Grace Holderman (Jr., Roanoke, Va. / Cave Spring) and Matty Grace Gilliam (So., Murfreesboro, N.C. / Ridgecroft) made it a clean sweep, however, as they downed Bailey Livingtson and Valentina Santos 8-5.
- Gilliam made it a 2-0 day as she had a big win at fourth singles over Elkhansa by a pair of 6-1 sets. Huffman was the only other player who had more impressive scores with a pair of 6-0 blankings at fifth singles against Bell.
- Johnston also had a perfect day with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Livingston at thirds. Bock added the final team point and was also perfect on the day with a 6-4, 6-0 win against Fink at sixth singles.
