RALEIGH, N.C. – The Yellow Jackets swept singles play Sunday afternoon – and that helped keep Women's Tennis unblemished on opening weekend as R-MC defeated Meredith 8-1.

Doubles
- The #1 duo of senior Morgan Fuqua (Richmond, VA / Mills Godwin) and sophomore Avery Smith ran into trouble with Meredith's #1 team of Aly Heneberry and Brittney Brown. The Meredith doubles team were able to win 8-6.
- But down the line, R-MC dominated the competition. The #2 team of seniors Kristin Dantzler (Williamsburg, Va. / York) and Landon Aud (Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) won in an 8-0 sweep of Meredith's Ashlyn Austin and Amelie Gillies.
- At #3 Doubles, senior Courtney Jenkins (Yorktown, Va. / York) and junior Isabel Wadsworth (Lake Wales, Fla. / Lake Wales) defeated Alexandra Cheney and Logan King by the score of 8-4.
Singles
- The Yellow Jackets swept singles play. It began with Fuqua defeating Henneberry. The senior won 7-6, 6-1 and won the first set with a 7-5 tiebreak.
- Dantzler defeated Brown, though the two needed a tiebreak set first. Brown won the first game 7-5, but Dantzler won the second 6-1 before winning the tie break 1-0 (10-0).
- Smith took #3 Singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Cheney. Smith has now won both of her debut weekend matches.
- Aud had no trouble at #4 Singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory against King.
- Freshman Grace Holderman (Roanoke, Va. / Cave Spring) was able to take the match from Austin at #5 Singles, winning 6-1, 6-1.
- Jenkins won the second straight sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Gillies. Jenkins won 6-0, 6-0 yesterday as well.
