Webster Goes For Goal and Assist At St. Mary's

Box Score

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Sophomore Natalie Webster (Midlothian, Va. / Midlothian) tallied a goal and an assist against non-conference foe St. Mary's Wednesday night -- but the Seahawks were still able to top Randolph-Macon Women's Lacrosse in the matchup.

The Basics

Score: St. Mary's 17, Randolph-Macon 4

Location/Venue: St. Mary's City, Md./JLR Stadium

Records: St. Mary's (Md.) (2-0), Randolph-Macon (1-1)

How It Happened

  • St. Mary's drew the first score about two minutes into the contest, but Randolph-Macon responded almost immediately. On the next draw control, junior Kaylyn Hewes (Linthicum, Md. / North County) was able to win it, which helped led directly to a goal moments later for sophomore McKenzie Hynson (Pasadena, Md. / Northeast), who scored on an unassisted play. The push-and-pull of the contest continued as St. Mary's scored about two minutes after the first sequence of goals in the contest. R-MC again responded in kind to level the score at 2-2 around the 18:47 mark with junior Erin Mattone (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) successfully converting a free-position chance. But from there, St. Mary's was able to launch an offensive volley, scoring ten goals before the end of the half and entered halftime with a 12-2 advantage.
  • St. Mary's was able to tack on three more early in the second period, all within the first seven minutes of play. Randolph-Macon broke the streak with a score by junior Bella Samper (Spring, Texas / Klein Oak). She took an assisting pass from Webster and launched it to the cage for R-MC's third goal of the contest. St. Mary's added two more, but Webster finished the game with a goal, scoring it with just 22 seconds remaining. She took an an unassisted play at the cage to tally her fifth goal of 2020.
