RALEIGH, N.C. – Randolph-Macon's Women's Tennis team opened its season with a win over Meredith 8-1 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets (1-0) swept Meredith (0-5) in the afternoon's doubles competition. No. 1 team sophomore Kristin Dantzler (Williamsburg, Va. / York) and junior Stephanie Yeager (Fairfax, Va. / Robinson Secondary) beat their opponents from Meredith 8-4, as did sophomore Landon Aud (Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) and senior Sarah Hinson (Nashville, N.C. / Northern Nash). The duo of junior Gaby Tersigni (Yorktown, Va. / York) and freshman Olivia Uzer (McLean, Va. / Langley) won in an 8-1 decision.

Singles' No. 1, Tersigni, won against her opponent, Meredith's No. 1, Gillian Emerson, by a 6-2, 6-2 decision. Yeager, R-MC's No. 2, defeated Jacqueline Benton 6-1, 6-2.

Dantzler and her opponent, Elizabeth Johnson, played to 6-4 in the first set, but found each other a challenge in the second before Dantzler won 7-5. In the No. 4 spot. Uzer defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-2 and Aud defeated Logan King in the No. 5 slot 6-0, 6-1. The only Meredith player to pick up a win in the match was Alexandra Cheney who was able to defeat Tory Stribling (Troy, Va. / Fluvanna County) 6-4, 6-2.

Both Randolph-Macon tennis teams will be in action tomorrow at St. Mary's (Md.) at 1:00 PM.
