ASHLAND, Va. – The #2 Randolph-Macon women's tennis team were defeated by #1 Washington and Lee 5-0 on Sunday afternoon in the ODAC Tennis Championship Final.
The Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets capped a tremendous 2017 season as they finished with a 17-3 overall record and reached the ODAC Finals for the second consecutive year.
Four year doubles partners Melissa Tomlin (Prince George, Va./ Prince George) and Molly Jesseman (Williamsburg, Va./ Warhill) fought a tough match at #2. Tomlin and Jesseman finish their four year doubles career with an impressive 53-17 overall record playing together.
Sophomore Stephanie Yeager (Fairfax, Va./ Robinson Secondary) and freshman Landon Aud (Fishersville, Va./ Wilson Memorial) gave the W&L #3 team a match, losing 8-2.
In singles, sophomore Gaby Tersigni (Yorktown, Va./ York) fell at #2 doubles, 6-1, 6-2. Tersigni finishes the season with a stellar 17-3 singles record.
Freshman Kristin Dantzler (Williamsburg, Va./ York) played at number four singles, falling 6-2, 3-1 before the match was complete.
Senior Toni McDonald (Richmond, Va./ Varina) lost the firsts set 6-0, but played a close second set before completion, with the score at 2-2.
