ASHLAND, Va. – R-MC women's tennis improved to 3-0 and 2-0 in the ODAC with a 7-2 victory over Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon at the Banks Tennis Center. Senior Melissa Tomlin (Prince George, Va./ Prince George) led the Yellow Jackets to victory with her two wins on the day.

Tomlin and senior Molly Jesseman (Williamsburg, Va./ Warhill) defeated the number two doubles pair of the Hornets by a score of 8-2. Tomlin would win at the number three singles spot 6-1, 6-1.

Also picking up a doubles win was sophomore Stephanie Yeager (Fairfax, Va./ Robinson Secondary) and freshman Landon Aud (Fishersville, Va./ Wilson Memorial), who won convincingly with an 8-1 score.

R-MC took a 2-1 advantage after doubles into the singles matches. Winning at the number two spot was sophomore Gaby Tersigini (Yorktown, Va./ York), who defeated Sarah Wyly 6-0, 6-2.

Also winning was freshman Kristin Dantzler (Williamsburg, Va./ York), who lost just one game between two sets, winning 6-1, 6-0.

At the number five singles was Jesseman, who beat Kelsey Dowling 6-2 in both sets. At the number six spot was Senior Toni McDonald (Richmond, Va./ Varina), who also only lost one game, winning 6-1, 6-0.

R-MC women's tennis will be back in action tomorrow with a road match against N.C. Wesleyan at 3 p.m.
