ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon women's team were defeated for the first time this season by #14 regionally ranked Centre 7-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Banks Tennis Center. R-MC goes to 6-1 for the season, while the Colonels improve to 4-4.

In doubles, R-MC were edged by the Colonels 2-1. Picking up the point for R-MC was the senior pair of Melissa Tomlin (Prince George, Va./ Prince George) and Molly Jesseman (Williamsburg, Va./ Warhill). They won their match 8-6 at the number two doubles spot against Emily Zelichenok and Zena Maddux of Centre.

In singles, R-MC lost by a score of 5-1. Winning for R-MC was freshman Landon Aud (Fishersville, Va./ Wilson Memorial) at the number six singles spot. Aud played a close match with Zena Maddux. Aud lost the fist set 6-4, but would dominate the second set by a score of 6-1. She would then claim the point, beating Maddux 10-4 in the third set tiebreaker.

Another close match for R-MC at singles was senior Toni McDonald (Richmond, Va./ Varina), who played number five. She lost to Courtney DeLong 6-3, 6-4.

R-MC will be back on the courts tomorrow for a road match against Averett at 3 p.m.
