Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse team came from behind twice to beat Goucher 12-8 on Saturday afternoon. Junior Miles Muncie led the team in points with five, scoring four times and assisting one.
Freshman Joe Maranto (Joppa, Md./ Fallston) dominated the faceoffs, winning 15 of 21. He also picked up four ground balls.
Randolph-Macon improves to 2-2 while Goucher fall to 1-2.
In the first period, the Goucher Gophers shutout R-MC. The visitors finished the first period with a 3-0 lead.
Randolph-Macon then responded in the second quarter by outscoring Goucher 4-1. Muncie scored twice for the Yellow Jackets, while freshman Colin Disesa (Ashland, Va./ Hanover) and junior Kyle Keepers (Roswell, Ga./ Roswell) each scored one in the second period. The Yellow Jackets would go into half time with the score tied at 4-4.
The Yellow Jackets would again dominate the early stages of the third period, scoring four straight goals and taking the lead at 8-5. Goucher fought to pull within one goal in by the end of the third.
Randolph-Macon then scored four goals in the fourth period to control the game. Senior Sam Mayer (Severna Park, Md./ Severna Park) had two assists in the fourth and four assists in the game. He now has 10 assists on the season.
Senior goalie Brian Davies (Lynchburg, Va./ E.C. Glass) made seven saves in the game. He brings his tally up to 37 for the season. Davies also had six ground balls, he currently leads the team with 20.
On defense, the pair of junior Kyle Geblein (Hagerstown, Md./ Smithsburg) and sophomore Cole Churchill (Hillsborough, N.C./ Ronald Reagan) each caused two turnovers.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Saturday, March 4 with a home game against Haverford College at 1:00 PM.
