HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – Fifth-seeded Randolph-Macon Men's Lacrosse traveled to fourth-seeded Hampden-Sydney for an ODAC Quarterfinal matchup for the third consecutive year. The Yellow Jackets used a strong second half to force overtime but fell 12-11.

How it Happened
- Hampden-Sydney opened the scoring in the first five minutes of the game and jumped out to a 3-0 lead. At the 4:38 mark, the Yellow Jackets shut down the three-goal run when Grant Sobel (Mechanicsville, Va./Christchurch) fed Ian Swartzendruber (Fallston, Md./Fallston), cutting the deficit to two. One minute later, H-SC added another goal to grab a two-goal lead again. Charlie Hilgartner (Severna Park, Md./Severn) sliced his way through the defense with 25 seconds left in the quarter, taking a two-goal deficit into the second frame.
- In the first 45 seconds of the second quarter, H-SC extended the lead when Brown Parker found the back of the net, making the score 5-2. 10 seconds later, Brodie Kent (Coquitlam, Canada/Centennial) threaded a pass to Logan Sinsebox (Monkton, Md./Hereford), who rifled a shot to put the Yellow Jackets back within two. At the 12:58 mark, Kevin Myers added another goal for the Tigers, pushing the score to 6-3. One minute later, freshman Owen King (Fallston, Md./Fallston) connected with Kent to cut the lead to 6-4. Parker added the final Tigers' goal of the first half for another three-goal lead. At the 6:18 mark, goalie Jack Isaacs (Coquitlam, Canada/Centennial) got the ball to Mike Allen (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown), tallying the second pole goal for the Lemon and Black, making the score 5-7. At the 1:46 mark, after a great defensive stand, King took the ball down the field and buried the ball in the goal, cutting the deficit to one heading into halftime.
- Coming out of the break, the Tigers quickly found the back of the net in the first one and a half minutes of the third frame. On the ensuing faceoff, Carson Mingo (Cambridge, Md./Gilman) answered quickly, weaving through the defense, making the score 7-8. The Tigers continued to maintain the lead on a shot from Davis Mack with 12:46 left to play in the quarter. At the 8:55 mark, Andrew Bergesen (Olney, Md./Sherwood) tallied an unassisted goal, sparking a three-goal run for the Yellow Jackets. Allen added his second goal two minutes later and Sinsebox buried a feed from Kent with 2:13 on the clock to give RMC its first lead of the game. Myers struck once again for the Tigers with 40 seconds on the clock, leveling the game at 10-10 to close out the third quarter of play.
- Three minutes into the final quarter of regulation, Kavin Wood sent a pass to Parker on the clear to net the go-ahead goal for H-SC. The goalies for each team anchored down for the next 12 minutes, keeping their respective team in the game. With 35 seconds left to play in regulation, the Tigers were called for offside, giving the Lemon and Black an extra-man opportunity. After an RMC timeout, Hilgartner threaded a pass to Swartzendruber, who buried the shot to force overtime for the second time this season between these two teams.
- At the 3:10 mark of overtime, Peyton Rodriguez (Santa Barbara, Calif./Bishop Garcia Diego) rattled off back-to-back shots that narrowly missed the cage. The Tigers forced a turnover, and during the clear, Will Foley sprinted downfield and fired a shot on goal, finding the back of the net for the game-winner.
