Box Score WINCHESTER, Va. – Sophomore Alicia Hsieh (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) scored six goals, including four in the second half, and sophomore Alex Lightfoot (Fairfax, Va./Woodson) added a goal and four assists as the Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team posted a 16-8 ODAC victory Wednesday afternoon at Shenandoah.
The Yellow Jackets (6-3, 3-0 ODAC) outscored the Hornets (2-9, 0-3 ODAC) 11-4 in the second half to secure the win.
After SU scored the first goal seven minutes into the game, Hsieh tied it five seconds later on a pass from Lightfoot. Junior Laney Dee (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan) gave R-MC the lead with 10:48 left in the first period. After the Hornets tied it three minutes later, senior Shannon Jamieson (Cypress, Texas/Cypress-Woods) and Hsieh both scored as the Yellow Jackets took a 4-2 lead with 6:45 remaining in the period. SU netted a pair of goals to level it at 4-4 with 1:11 left before senior Katie Russo (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) scored 10 seconds later on a pass from senior Jenelle Whitman (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) as R-MC took the lead for good at 5-4.
The Yellow Jackets scored the first six goals of the second half as Hsieh scored twice and Lightfoot, Whitman, Jamieson and Russo added single goals to give R-MC an 11-4 cushion midway through the second half. After an SU goal, junior Susie Snee (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll), Hsieh and junior Jessie Cornbrooks (Virginia Beach, Va./Bishop Sullivan) each scored to push the Yellow Jacket advantage to 14-5 with 8:21 remaining. The Hornets tallied the next two goals before Lightfoot assisted both Hsieh and sophomore Lucy Andrews (Bethesda, Md./Johnson) to give the Yellow Jackets a 16-7 edge with 3:42 left. SU would net the last goal to make the final score 16-8.
R-MC held a 36-21 advantage in shots. Hsieh paced the victors with 11 shots, of which nine were on goal. Jamieson had seven shots and Whitman took six.
The Yellow Jackets dominated draw controls 18-8, including 8-2 in the first half. Snee led R-MC with 10 draw controls.
Junior Allie Walker (Towson, Md./Mercy) recorded nine saves for R-MC.
Randolph-Macon will host Catholic on Saturday, April 9 at 1 p.m. at Day Field.
