Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Sophomore Alicia Hsieh (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) scored eight goals and sophomore Alex Lightfoot (Fairfax, Va./Woodson) recorded eight assists as the Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team posted a 20-10 ODAC victory at Bridgewater Saturday afternoon to conclude the regular season.
The Yellow Jackets (8-1, 11-5) will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament. R-MC will receive a bye in the quarterfinals and will play a semifinal contest on Friday, May 6 in Lexington, Va.
R-MC got on the board first as senior Susie Snee (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) scored on an assist by senior Shannon Jamieson (Cypress, Texas/Cypress-Woods) less than a minute into the game. The Eagles answered quickly to knot the score at 1-1. The Yellow Jackets netted the next four goals to take a 5-1 lead 10 minutes into the contest. Lightfoot assisted on three of the goals as Hsieh had two goals, while Jamieson and junior Laney Dee (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan) each scored one. BC scored three of the next four goals to make it 6-4 with 12:39 left in the first half. Junior Jessie Cornbrooks (Virginia Beach, Va./Bishop Sullivan) had the one goal in that stretch for R-MC. The Yellow Jackets dominated the next 11 minutes, scoring five straight goals to take an 11-4 lead with 1:12 left in the period. Hsieh scored four and Jamieson had one during the spurt. BC netted the final goal of the half as R-MC led 11-5 at the break. R-MC held a 12-5 advantage in draw controls in the first period as Hsieh and Snee paced the Yellow Jackets with three apiece.
R-MC tallied the first four goals of the second half to take a 15-5 lead with 26:35 remaining as Lightfoot, Snee, Hsieh and freshman Hannah Jones (Chestertown, Md./Kent County) each scored. After the Eagles got a goal, R-MC tallied three straight to push the lead to 18-6 with 18:40 left as Jamieson, Hsieh and sophomore Sarah Alvanos (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) each scored. Following a BC goal, senior Katie Russo (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) and freshman Lexi Jones (Chestertown, Md./Kent County) both scored to give the visitors a 20-7 lead with 11:05 remaining. BC tallied the final three goals of the game as the Yellow Jackets posted a 20-10 victory.
Jamieson finished with three goals and three assists for R-MC.
Junior Allie Walker (Towson, Md./Mercy) registered seven saves for the Yellow Jackets.
R-MC finished the game with a 21-11 advantage in draw controls. Hsieh had six and Snee recorded four. Dee paced the team with three ground balls. Senior Tricia Mangas (Chantilly, Va./Paul VI) caused three turnovers.
