Box Score SALEM, Va – Sophomore left-hander Nelda Bagley (Kenbridge, Va./Central) made her return to the ODAC Tournament after going 4-0 with a 0.75 ERA in last year's tournament, but suffered the loss as third-seeded Randolph-Macon dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 6 Guilford.
The Yellow Jackets (29-12) faced off against Guilford in the first game of the tournament and neither team could get much offense going early. The Quakers (25-16) managed to get a lead in the top of the fourth after an error advanced a runner to third who was knocked in by a single through the right side. Guilford added two more unearned runs in the top of the seventh.
Bagley finished the game with seven innings pitched, zero earned runs, and three strikeouts. At the plate for Randolph-Macon freshman Diane McDaniel (Fauquier, Va. / Liberty) went 2 for 4 with two doubles and junior Jen Balcom (Powhatan, Va. /Powhatan) went 1 for 2. This marks the first time this year the Yellow Jackets have been shut out.
Randolph-Macon will face No. 7 Randolph in an elimination game at 7 p.m. this evening.
