Hsieh Scores Five, Snee Nets Tying Goal for R-MC Women's Lacrosse vs. W&L

ASHLAND, Va. – Sophomore Alicia Hsieh (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) led all players with five goals, but Washington and Lee scored on a free position shot with 2:02 remaining to snap a 9-9 tie, won the draw control and ran out the clock as the Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team dropped a 10-9 ODAC decision Wednesday evening at Day Field.

The Generals (10-5, 8-0 ODAC) clinched the top seed in next week's ODAC Tournament and will host the semifinals and finals. The Yellow Jackets (10-5, 7-1) will be the No. 2 seed. Both teams will have byes in the quarterfinals.

W&L scored the first three goals of the game before Hsieh netted her first goal five minutes into the contest. Senior Shannon Jamieson (Cypress, Texas/Cypress-Woods) scored three minutes later to make it a 3-2 contest. After the Generals pushed their lead to 4-2, Hsieh scored on a free position shot to pull R-MC within one at 4-3 with 13:35 remaining in the half. W&L would score the final four goals of the period and take an 8-3 advantage at intermission.

R-MC answered quickly in the second stanza as Jamieson scored once and Hsieh twice in the first eight minutes of the period as the Yellow Jackets trailed 8-6. The Generals netted a goal midway through the half to push their advantage to 9-6. Hsieh scored with 8:19 remaining and Jamieson converted a free position shot with 5:22 left to make it a 9-8 contest. Junior Susie Snee (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) scored on a pass from Jamieson with 4:03 left to knot the score at 9-9 before W&L got the game-winner two minutes later.

Hsieh led the Yellow Jackets with three draw controls. Senior Natalie Schnell (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) paced R-MC with three ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Junior Allie Walker (Towson, Md./Mercy) had seven saves for the Yellow Jackets.

Randolph-Macon concludes the regular season on Saturday, April 30 with a 1 p.m. ODAC contest at Bridgewater.
