Davidson, Muncie Help R-MC Crush SU 15-4 on Senior Day

ASHLAND, Va.—Senior Ryan Davidson (Logan Township, NJ / Kingsway Regional) and sophomore Miles Muncie (Midlothian, Va. / Midlothian) each tallied six points as the Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse team routed Shenandoah 15-4 on Senior Day Saturday afternoon.

Muncie registered four goals and added two assists while Davison led R-MC with five goals and one assist.

Shenandoah (4-11, 0-8) held a 2-0 lead through half of the first period before the Yellow Jackets (4-11, 3-4 ODAC) tallied seven straight goals.  Davidson and Muncie each scored three times during the spurt and sophomore Coleman Adams (Mechanicsville, Va. / St. Christopher's) added the remaining goal as R-MC built a 7-2 advantage with 12:59 remaining in the third period.

SU added its third goal of the contest with 10:14 to play in the third before R-MC tacked on another seven straight scores to increase its lead to 14-3. Senior Louie Bafford (Phoenix, Md. / Dulaney) notched his first assist of the season as Muncie scored to start the run. Senior Nick Benhoff (Phoenix, Md. / Dulaney) recorded his 10th goal of the season with 5:51 remaining in the period. Freshman Lee Pratt (Winston-Salem, NC / Ronald Reagan) tallied a score for R-MC before Davidson tallied two goals with under ten-seconds remaining in the third. Davidson scored with 0:07 on the clock and scored again at the buzzer on a pass from Benhoff. Junior Sam Mayer (Severna Park, Md. / Severna Park) found sophomore Tait Buttrey (Damascus, Md. / Damascus) for his third goal of 2016. A pass from junior Tim Leavitt (Davidsonville, Md. / Archbishop Spalding) to sophomore Kyle Keepers (Roswell, Ga. / Roswell) capped the 7-0 run for the Yellow Jackets.

The Hornets added their fourth goal with 2:31 to play before freshman Patrick Dotter (Glen Allen, Va. / St. Christopher's) tallied his first collegiate assist as freshman Jacob Jones (Chestertown, Md. / Kent County) notched the first goal of his career to give R-MC the 15-4 victory.

Seniors Conor Moran (Plainfield, Illinois / Benet Academy) and Matt DeBiasse (Long Hill, NJ / Watchung Hills) led the R-MC defense that gave up two goals early in the first period but held the Hornets to two goals in the remaining 55 minutes of play.

R-MC held a 52-25 advantage in shots and a 16-6 lead on face-offs. Benhoff finished the day 14-18 on face-offs.

Senior Tommy Smith (Richmond, Va. / Benedictine) recorded one save in his second start this season while junior Brian Davies (Lynchburg, Va. / E.C. Glass) added seven stops for the Yellow Jackets.

Randolph-Macon returns to action at Lynchburg on Wednesday, April 27 at 7:00 p.m.
