Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – Sophomore Alicia Hsieh (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) paced the victors with six goals and three assists as the Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team posted a 16-4 ODAC win at Lynchburg Wednesday evening.
Hsieh scored three minutes into the game to give R-MC the early lead. LC scored seven minutes later to level the score at 1-1. Hsieh tallied her second goal less than a minute later, sparking a 5-0 run as the Yellow Jackets took a 6-1 lead with 11:38 left in the first half. Junior Jessie Cornbrooks (Virginia Beach, Va./Bishop Sullivan), senior Alyssa Chavez (Frederick, Md./Walkersville), senior Jenelle Whitman (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) and senior Shannon Jamieson (Cypress, Texas/Cypress-Woods) all netted goals during the spurt. After the Hornets scored to make it 6-2, R-MC registered three goals in less than a minute to take a 9-2 lead at intermission. Senior Katie Russo (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney), Chavez and Hsieh all had scores in the flurry for the Yellow Jackets.
R-MC kept the offense going in the second half. Hsieh scored the first two of the second period as the lead grew to 11-2. The Hornets got two of the next three goals, sandwiched around Hsieh's sixth score, to make it 12-4 with less than 20:00 remaining. The Yellow Jackets would score the final four, as sophomore Alex Lightfoot (Fairfax, Va./Woodson), junior Kelly Barney (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan), junior Laney Dee (Norfolk, Va./Bishop Sullivan) and sophomore Frankie Willing (Salisbury, Md./Worcester) all netted goals to make the final 16-4.
The Yellow Jackets held a slim 25-24 advantage on shots, including 22-15 for shots on goal. Hsieh led all players with eight shots, including seven on goal.
R-MC dominated in draw controls 17-4, including 10-1 in the first half. Junior Susie Snee (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) topped the team with five draw controls, while Hsieh and Whitman both had four.
Junior Allie Walker (Towson, Md./Mercy) recorded 11 saves for the Yellow Jackets.
Randolph-Macon returns home on Saturday, April 16, for Senior Day against Guilford at 1 p.m. at Day Field.
