Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Senior Jenelle Whitman (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) tallied four goals as the Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team dropped a 19-6 decision at Christopher Newport Wednesday afternoon.
The Captains (6-1) recorded the first five goals of the game before Whitman scored five minutes into the match. CNU had the next six goals to extend its lead to 11-1. R-MC scored five of the final seven goals of the half, including three by Whitman, as the Yellow Jackets (1-3) trailed 13-6 at the break.
After CNU netted the first two goals of the second half, freshman Hannah Jones (Chestertown, Md./Kent County) registered her second goal of the game with 24:34 left in the contest. The Captains claimed the next four goals before senior Alyssa Chavez (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) had the game's final goal.
Whitman led the Yellow Jackets with nine shots, including eight on goal. She also had three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Junior Allie Walker (Towson, Md./Mercy) recorded eight saves.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, March 19, with a 1 p.m. home contest against Washington College at Day Field.
