Box Score 2 GREENSBORO, N.C. – Freshman Nelda Bagley (Kenbridge, Va./Central) earned a pair of victories as the Randolph-Macon softball team won a doubleheader at Guilford in ODAC action Saturday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets (16-8, 10-6) won 2-1 in Game 1 and registered a 4-3 victory in eight innings in the nightcap against the Quakers (21-11, 9-5).
Bagley (10-3) went the distance in the opener with five hits, one run, no walks and seven strikeouts. She went the final 2.2 innings in Game 2 with two hits, one run, one walk and four punchouts.
Junior Madison Gilman (Glen Allen, Va./Patrick Henry) drove in both runs in Game 1 for R-MC. She had an RBI double in the fourth to snap a scoreless tie. After Guilford tied it in the bottom of the frame, Gilman had a run-scoring single in the fifth as the Yellow Jackets reclaimed the lead.
Junior Sierra Ford (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) had two hits and a run for R-MC.
Junior Katie Woody (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) had a sacrifice fly in the eighth to give the Yellow Jackets the sweep. Gilman had an RBI double in the first to give R-MC the early lead. Freshman Hayden Fontenot (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge) had a two-run single in the sixth as the Yellow Jackets took a 3-0 lead. Guilford responded with three in the bottom of the sixth to level the score.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Sunday, April 12 for a 1 p.m. ODAC doubleheader at Emory & Henry.
